The Gandia (Teli Sabu) community is not a new community in the Indian society. It has a long history in our society. The people of this community used to extract oil from seeds using Grind Mills driven by Bullocks. The Indian villages have a population of 2 or 3 families in each village or they are not visible in some of the villages.
This community mainly earns its livelihood by driving Grind Mills using Bullocks & represent the healthy village cottage industry sector which in this industrial age is becoming extinct due to huge financial losses and social dishonour. Hence the community itself is endangered and nearly extrinct. Some people representing this community are facing hardship to atleast eam for a meal a day,
This community in the pre independent India used to eam good profits and due to lack of education and negligence by the society have not saved enough money for the future. After independence due to industrialisation, bigger arid huge oil mills with advanced machineries have come into being and the profitability of extraction oil by this community decreased drastically and they are finding very difficulty even to earn their bread. The heavy oil mills and machinery have told their effect on this community and further pushed them into poverty. Thus effecting this community skills.
Though this community GANDLA (TELI, SAHU....... ) or by any other name in any other state represents a section of people who are engaged mainly extracting oil from seeds. Hence
the State Govts. and Central Govts. have to take stringent steps to pressurise the administration to uplift this community by helping them financially
The State Govts. and Central Govts are hereby requested to pass a GO stating the usage of oil in the edowments ministry and all the temples of India by purchasing oil from Gandia (Tele, Sahu )community or authorised Gandla cooperative societies etc., only to enable them earn minimum livelihood.
